Letter to Students No. 1
21 Feb 2011
Dear All in Arch 7201:
Welcome back! I hope you all have had a much deserved break.
I am sending out this brief note to remind you that the Introduction of 2011 graduation studio will be on 1 March. Needless to say the first lecture is of great importance, which will explain to you the ideas and structure of the course. It establishes at the outset the philosophical underpinning of this course. The studio masters are also introduced to the class for the first time. Of course the lectures and studios that follow too are important as each of them serves a specific aim that is integral to the whole before you embark on your own Research Studio project.
Now I must ask all of you to bring in to the class a spiral bound A4 size note book/sketch book. The ‘journal’ that you record/write/draw and comment during the lectures will become an important trigger for the studios in the first six weeks; the journals will also form part of the overall assessment. I will tell you more about this and that at the Introduction on 1 March.
I look forward to seeing you all and to what promised to be a good graduation year.
With best wishes.
